When facts vanish
We are swamped with politics at present.
The whole world is being fed constant daily updates from the US presidential campaign. A campaign that seems to have gone on for at least a decade or even two. We have had the primaries and now the parties will elect their candidates to contest the actual election.
Donald McTrumptyfuckdoodle is mathematically assured of nomination for the Republicans. Hilary Clinton is the likely Democratic party opponent unless Bernie Sanders causes a momentous upset (which sadly to many is unlikely). Hilary has some dubious connections and courts big business. She is very much the establishment choice. Donald is the the choice of the disaffected, the redneck, the disillusioned. He feeds on their fear of others, their fear of government and an insular blind ignorance. Donald has exceeded expectations in coming this far. All the main pundits predict the will be wiped out in November when the US comes to its senses.
Meanwhile the UK is embroiled in a contrived debate on its continuing membership of the EU. David Porky Hameron promised a referendum and a referendum we have got. This was at the insistence of a faction within his own party. As a consequence, the Tories have decided it should be important to the whole country because after all is there anyone else in politics other than Conservatives?
Porky is heading the remain camp with his slimy chancellor and loads of ex Labour cabinet members in support. The leave or Brexit (fuck how much do I hate that!) campaign is led by Boris Flumpty Doo Dah Johnson, Ian Duncan Smith (sorry I've been sick) and the Lord of Darkness Michael Gove. This has also gone on far too long and we are probably all bored witless of the arguments.
Because the arguments both in the US and UK are what really annoys me.
Trumpty Mc.... and Doo Dah Johnson are past masters at a sensational soundbite. They promise, insult and mock opposition without a shred of factual evidence to support them. Any factual arguments that oppose theirs are mocked and dismissed with stupid playground insults. Their opponents then manage to lose their dignity and revert to scaremongering. Trumpty.... & D D Johnson just shout back. This is the level of political debate we are subjected to. And the pundits in the UK under why Jeremy Corbyn remains strangely quiet. Maybe he is happy to sit and watch the Tories throw stones at each other and sees no need to get involved. Maybe yet again he is used to reasoned political debate not kindergarten talk. Bernie Sanders is more vocal of his opposition to DT Mc.... but still hangs back compared to Clinton.
Now obviously being president of the USA is a fairly important job but then as with Baseball World Series (which means USA and reluctantly Canada); there is an assumption that the rest of the world are just outlying states. I would imagine D Mc T would be a disaster for the US and their relations with the rest of the world. It is the nightmare scenario that everyone apart from his band of Walmart based Gun toting rednecks believe too.
Similarly I am firmly of the belief that the UK leaving the EU would be a catastrophe particularly because it would lead to Bozza becoming prime minister (what a scary thought!) not to mention all the financial and social harm it would cause.
But please please I implore you to not listen to these over inflated windbags throwing childish insults and talking just plain lies. Read about their policy arguments, look at what the candidates stand for and then make up your minds. And most importantly, turn over, ignore or close your eyes/cover your ears when the bullshit starts to flow. Because it isn't political debate, it isn't even debate, its just a shit stream. Look for facts, don't be lazy and agree with these clowns. Make your minds up based on your own research.
And if you vote for Don in the US and Boris's gang in the UK, you're an idiot.
