Old and Worn

A missing tick of a clock
A smudge on a mirror conceals
A squeak on a floorboard reveals
Those socks with a hole
The frayed old jeans
The battered vinyl LP
With lost shrouded songs
The wrongly folded map
With holes on the folds
Where paths disappear
All pointing towards
An imperfect world it seems

But they all have history
Handled, worn, used
Now holding memories
Now telling stories
That the new, untouched
Have yet to discover
Have yet to experience
The touch of the years
The life yet to live
So care for the old
And value those that
Love has touched
